- Records, 1675-1756, including letters of orders, 1748-1756, consisting of transcripts of incoming correspondence to the Bishop of London concerning the ordination of priests, primarily from or for the colonies in America and the West Indies. The letters primarily recommend, but occasionally protest the ordination of individuals to the priesthood for service in the colonies. Also includes extracts of the minutes of the Committee of Trade and Plantations, 1675-1685, and a few other earlier papers relating to the religious authority of the Bishop in America

- Thomas Sherlock was born 1678. He served as the Bishop of Bangor 1728; of Salisbury 1734; and of London from 1748 until his death in 1761.
