- Biographical or historical data
- Samuel Cobbs served as the clerk of the court for Amelia County, Virginia, from 1734 to 1757. He represented Amelia County in the Virginia House of Burgesses from 1742 to 1749. A wealthy planter, he and his wife Edith Cobbs (d. 1761) had four children. Cobbs died between 27 June 1757, when he wrote his will, and 28 July 1757, when it was proved in the Amelia County Court.
