- Papers, 1893-1937, of Thomas Easley Craddock (1889-1937) of Lynchburg, Virginia. Most of the collection consists of letters written to his family while he was a hospital orderly with the 321st Field Hospital in France during World War I. Topics include his arrival in France, his unit's movements, mail deliveries, visits to the YMCA, censorship of letters, weather, hikes, family news, fellow soldiers, peace prospects and the signing of the armistice, and rumors of sailing for home. The collection also includes a letter and postcards written by his sister Fannie Yancey Craddock (1895-1967) while she was traveling in Italy in 1923, as well as insurance papers and obituaries

- Thomas Easley Craddock was born in Houston, Halifax County, Virginia on 2 February 1889. He was the son of Abram Poindexter Craddock and Rosa Lee Edmondson. Craddock attended Cluster Springs Academy, and then was employed by the Craddock-Terry Shoe Company. He served in World War I as a hospital orderly with an ambulance corps in France. Following the war, he was employed by the Central Shoe Company of St. Louis. Craddock married Rubie Paxton Tyree (1907-1985) on 15 June 1930. He died at Keeley Institute in Greensboro, North Carolina on 23 March 1937, and is buried in Spring Hill Cemetery in Lynchburg.
