- Slave importation certificate, 3 March 1794, of John Thomson Mason (1765-1824) of Washington County, Maryland, stating how he came into possession of the slaves, the purpose for their importation from Virginia, their names, and when and where they were first brought into Maryland. Docketing on the reverse of the certificate states that it was recorded in the land records of Frederick County, Maryland on 7 March 1794

- John Thomson Mason was born on 15 March 1765. He was the son of Thomson Mason (1733-1785) and Mary King Barnes (d. 1771) of Stafford County, Virginia. John Thomson Mason was a prominent attorney, and resided in Elizabethtown (now Hagerstown), Washington County, Maryland at his home "Montpelier." In 1797, he married Elizabeth Beltzhoover (1781-1836). He died on 10 December 1824.
