- Letitia Preston was born on 29 September 1779 at "Smithfield," Montgomery County, Virginia. She was the sixth daughter of William Preston and Susanna Smith. She married John Floyd (1783-1837) on 13 May 1804 in Franklin County, Kentucky. He was a member of the Virginia General Assembly, U.S. House of Representatives (1817-1829), and Governor of Virginia (1830-1834). They had 12 children. Letitia Preston Floyd died on 13 December 1852 at Burke's Garden, Tazewell County, Virginia.
