- Annye Lewis Allison was born in Kentucky. She was the daughter of William Byron Allison and Susan Gano Price (1856-1932). She settled in Richmond, Virginia, and taught art in the Richmond city schools for 34 years. Allison was a member of the Poetry Society of Virginia, Gamble's Hill Garden Club, and the West End Garden Club. She died in Richmond on 27 April 1943, and is buried at "Prospect Hill" in Spotsylvania County.
