- Transcription of the will, 11 June 1862, of James Glen (d. ca. 1762) of Hanover County, Virginia. The will was presented to the Hanover County Court for probate on 3 February 1763 and was proved by witnesses on 3 March 1763. This transcription is from a copy made in 1822 which had been sent to Abbeville, South Carolina, as an exhibit in an equity suit. The Hanover County will book containing this instrument is no longer extant
- Biographical or historical data
- James Glen first appears in the records of New Kent County, Virginia, in 1717 purchasing land. He later moved to Hanover County where he provided benches and railings for Fork Church of St. Martin's Parish. Glen owned extensive land holdings in Hanover and Goochland Counties by the time of his death about 1762.
